Welcome to the Greater Birmingham Mathematics Partnership website. The Greater Birmingham Mathematics Partnership, or “GBMP” for short, is dedicated to improving mathematics education in the greater Birmingham, Alabama region and contributing to better mathematics teaching and learning well beyond.  On the following pages, you’ll find information about our project’s beginnings, evolution, funding, design, constituent components, activities, and plans. You will also find links to resources, opportunities, and other sites of potential interest. Through this website we hope to provide information that is valuable to anyone who may share an interest in our project and/or improving mathematics education.

2012 SUMMER COURSE REGISTRATION

 UPDATE 4.27.12

We regret that due to the high volume of registrations, we are no longer able to take registrations for summer courses, except from teachers who teach at GBMP Phase 2 schools. Non-Phase 2 teachers who would like to register for "Patterns 2" or "Statistics" will be placed on a waiting list and may get a spot should funding permit.  ("Patterns" and "Numerical Reasoning" are prerequisites for either of these 2 courses) .  We continue to encourage any teacher from a GBMP Phase 2 school to send in a course registration.  Please see our Teachers page for details and registration information.

 

Matt Larson speaks at GBMP's Final MST Session

Dr. Matt Larson, a nationally recognized  expert on the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, delivered  a thought-provoking presentation on the subject at a luncheon that also celebrated GBMP's MSTs at the conclusion of their final professional development session.  Please see our Highlights page for more information.
